Mother of Teen Charged with Reckless Homicide Speaks Out

Mother says Shaylynn Capers used to say she'd make her mother proud.

The mother of a teen charged with reckless homicide after she allegedly attempted to elude authorities β€” a chase that ended with two of her passengers killed β€” told media Monday that her daughter appeared to have a different path.

Sharon Capers spoke with ABC News 4. Capers said her 17-year-old daughter Shaylynn Nichole Capers had succumbed to peer pressure.Β

"I wanted great things for Shaylynn. She did, too," her mother said. "She kept telling me, β€˜Yeah mama, I'm going to make you proud. I'm going to go in the military. I'm going to do this for you.'"
