Nonprofit Treating 45 Malnourished Dogs Needs Help
Prepaid gas cards, Pedialyte and monetary donations sought to help care for the 45 dogs seized earlier this week in Goose Creek.
Since 45 dogs were seized from a Goose Creek home that had more than 200 dead dogs, many have asked what they can do to help.
The hound dogs are not ready for adoption and are still in need of medical treatment.
Animal Rescue & Relief Inc., which is caring for the surviving dogs, has released a needs list. The nonprofit has already received plenty of food donations.

The investigation and seizure of the dogs was a result of several weeks of collaboration between Animal Rescue & Relief Inc., Berkeley County Animal Control and the Sheriff's Department.Β
Loney L. Garrett has been charged with 43 counts of ill treatment of animals. He faces between 21 and 215 years in jail if he is convicted of every count, which carries a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 5 years in prison.Β
ARR specializes in investigating and coordinating these types of operations, and has become an important go-to resource to animal control agencies and police departments, who often need the additional expertise, experience and resources that the organization provides, according to a statement by the nonprofit.
According to Executive Director Michelle Reid, the case is one of the most egregious cases of neglect that they have recently seen.Β
"In addition to all of the unhealthy and malnourished dogs that were rescued alive, we found thousands of bones on the property and numerous carcasses of animals in various stages of decomposition. Some even had what investigators referred to as 'clear signs of bullet holes.' There is an overwhelming sense of sadness associated with what these animals most have experienced," Reid said in a statement.
