Police cadets, excited about the Bike-A-Thon that benefits St. Jude Childrenβs Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, are determined to make this ride a community party.Β βThe general plan is to have a good time while helping a wonderful group of children and families counting on our support,β Becker said.Β βOur police cadets share the dream of the hospitalβs founder, the late Danny Thomas, that βno child should have to die of cancer or other catastrophic diseases,ββ he said.
Since the hospital opened in 1962 one hundred and forty-seven (147) children and families from South Carolina have received treatment from St. Jude.Β Currently, forty (40) children from South Carolina are receiving treatment from St. Jude.
