#prayersforaly: Lady Gators Rally Around Newborn

Teammate's newborn sister has remained in the hospital since birth.

The Lady Gators basketball team has hit social media with the hashtag #prayersforalyΒ to rally the community around a teammate's newborn sister.Β

Aly was born with parts of her brain missing, according to father Jonathan Short.Β Doctors have given Aly a 50-50 chance of surviving off the ventilator that she's currently on, Short said.Β

"We just want to get as many people to pray for Aly, that she breathes on her own, that she gets stronger," Short said.Β "We don't know for how long we'll have her. Our goal is to get her home and get her comfortable."

Aly's older sister is No. 3Β Mariah Linney, the eighth-grader guard for the Lady Gators, who broke her leg earlier in the season. Short said the team's support has meant everything to them in this difficult time.

"Those girls are family to us. We support them in anything they do," Short said. "We love those girls."Β
