Speak Out: Do You Love Cadbury Creme Eggs?

While some look forward to this chocolate treat during the Easter season, other despise it. Tell us what you think in the comments!

The Easter Bunny always seems to bring some of those Cadbury Creme Eggs in your Easter basket. Or perhaps, you make sure to grab a few while in the checkout line.

Or, if you're like some, you recoil in disgust and say "no thank you" to this odd little treat.Β One blogger calledΒ the egg-shaped dessert "50 Shades of Nasty":

I hate Cadbury Creme Eggs. I am sorry, but I do. The chocolate shell is good, but inside there lurks a horror I can hardly comprehend. The filling–the nasty, thick, chalky, sugary filling. I just threw up a little in my mouth thinking about it. It’s like someone took a big bowl of snot, poured in a metric butt-ton of powdered sugar and thought, β€œThis will work.”

In 1824, John Cadbury opened a shop in Birmingham where he sold tea, coffee, hops, mustard, cocoa, and drinking chocolate, which he made himself using a mortar and pestle. A century later, in 1923, the company that grew out of his shop released its first cream-filled eggs. But the Cadbury Creme Easter Eggs we all know and love weren't invented until 1971. Four years later, the first TV ad appeared for Cadbury Creme Eggs and these chocolate confections became an international Easter classic. Many Americans will remember the "clucking bunny" campaign, begun in 1982.

Cadbury Creme Egg season ends Thursday, April 4.Β
