Speak Out: Schools Barring the Confederate Battle Flag?

A court ruling upheld a S.C. school district's policy to ban the wearing of Confederate battle flags by students.

Β A federal appellate court has upheld a S.C. school district's police to ban students from wearing Confederate battle flag T-shirts, the Post and Courier reported.

Latta County School District in the Pee Dee made the challenged policy.Β 

The Post and Courier reported on theΒ 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals statement:

Although students’ expression of their views and opinions is an important part of the educational process and receives some First Amendment protection, the right of students to speak in school is limited by the need for school officials to ensure order, protect the rights of other students, and promote the school’s educational mission.
