Speak Out: What Do You Think of Hagel's Confirmation?

Former Sen. Chuck Hagel has been confirmed as the U.S. Secretary of Defense after a contentious battle among legislators. 

Hagel, a Republican, had his nomination by President Barack Obama challenged by many in the GOP.

On Tuesday, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., released this statement:

Senator Hagel’s record on Israel and Iran is unacceptable, and sends the wrong message to our allies around the world. We need a Secretary of Defense who is going to stand firm in the face of an ever- dangerous world, not one who has been unwilling to call Hezbollah a terrorist organization. Mr. Hagel’s confirmation hearings failed to show the American people they could be confident in his decision making as Secretary, and I sincerely hope he proves my concerns unwarranted moving forward.
