Perhaps not surprisingly, the most expensive rent is on Daniel Island and Mount Pleasant. Perhaps a little surprising is that rent in downtown Charleston is not the most expensive. In fact, there is a sliver on the peninsula with the average rental price of $545, well within the state's average rent ofΒ $473 to $581 β€” though that is "above the Crosstown."Β

The neck of Charleston seems to offer the lowest rent in the region, at about $288.Β

While Goose Creek and Summerville have often been seen as lower-cost-of-living options in the Lowcountry, both had areas with rent averaging $1,148.
