Suspect Escapes Fiery Wreck, But Not Handcuffs
Man who allegedly evaded authorities hits utility pole and is arrested.

A suspect evading police crashed into a utility pole, escaping his burning vehicle, only to be later handcuffed, Count on 2 News reported.
The incident occurred Monday.
Demar Devon Bacon wasΒ charged with failure to stop for blue lights, two counts of driving under suspension third offense, possession of marijuana and habitual traffic offender. Bond has not been set for the driving under suspension charges, but so far, Bacon has a $45,000 bond and remains in jail as of Thursday evening.Β

The TV news agency reported:
When the officer attempted to pull him over, Bacon sped off through a neighborhood.Β A pursuit continued until it was called off because for the safety of residents.

Later that night, another officer recognized Bacon, but before the officer could turn on his lights, Bacon crashed into a light pole, that immediately went up in flames. A few minutes later, the Land Rover SUV Bacon was driving was also ignited.
