Teens Killed in Wreck Allegedly Had Stolen Vehicle
Hanahan Police pursued allegedly stolen vehicle, which ended up in a fatal, single-vehicle wreck on Foster Creek Road.

Two teenagers allegedly attempting to evade Hanahan Police in a stolen vehicle have paid for the suspected crime with their lives.
According to Hanahan Police, the four occupants in Wednesday's deadly wreck had stolen the 2011 Lexus.Β Patrick Graham, 19, and Martin Pinckney, 18, both of North Charleston, died from head and body trauma, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

A Hanahan officer was patrolling the Tanner Plantation area of Hanahan due to recent residential burglaries and car break-ins, and attempted to stop a gold Lexus for a traffic violation on Foster Creek Road. The license plate displayed on the vehicle did not come back to a Lexus and as stolen out of Dorchester County.
When the officer activated his blue lights, the vehicle initially slowed and then accelerated at a high-rate of speed, according to police. A pursuit began through the Ibis Glade subdivision of Tanner Plantation. At one point the passenger door opened as the front passenger appeared to try to jump out. The vehicle also struck several mailboxes.

The pursuit continued out to Foster Creek Road where the vehicle began to pull away from the police vehicle at a very high rate of speed. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed in a wooded field at the end of Foster Creek Road.
The two surviving occupants were Jimarie Travis Whitehead, 19, of Charleston and Shaylynn Nichole Capers, 17, of Summerville, who was the driver. Whitehead wasΒ located in an adjoining subdivision and was transported to MUSC with non-life threatening injuries. Capers was also transported to MUSC for non-life threatening injuries. She is wanted out of Dorchester County for unspecified charges.
Pinckney had no previous criminal record in Charleston or Berkeley counties. Graham had a pending case in Charleston County for possession of cocaine, for which he had an active warrant for failing to appear for his 2012 court date, according to records.Β
Located in the waistband of one of the deceased males was a loaded, suspected stolen Berretta 9MM pistol, according to police. Further investigation revealed a second handgun inside the vehicle which was confirmed as being stolen, along with the Berretta and a third handgun, from a Tanner Plantation residence. Multiple additional items of stolen property were recovered in and around the vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen out of Dorchester County. An open bottle of wine was also located in the car.Β
S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and will make any charges associated with the collision. The Hanahan Police Department has charges pending for Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren, Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property. Additional charges may be pending.Β
The police chase and wreck is one of several reported by the law enforcement agency in the last year.Β
In February, Hanahan Police had called off the chase when conditions were perceived to be too dangerous. .Β

"We don't make these decisions the driver of the other vehicle makes this decision," Hanahan Police's Lt. Michael Fowler told Patch. "We just react to their decisions."
