
The SC Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) recognized law enforcement officers and agencies Tuesday for their efforts in 2011 to enforce the state’s DUI laws and remove impaired drivers from South Carolina roadways.
SCDPS presented awards to officers and agencies in several categories and held drawings for agencies to win equipment and vehicles during a ceremony that combined its 7th Annual DUI Enforcement and 2011 Law Enforcement DUI Challenge recognitions.
Five Mauldin Police Officers were among those recognized.

Officer David Terry received a Silver Pin for having between 25-49 arrests in 2011.
Officer Robbie Gilbert, Officer Richard Montabano, Officer Daniel Turner, Officer Adam Lawrence received Bronze pins for having between 11-24 arrests on 2011.

The following is a complete list of winners:
Officer of the Year (five categories based on size of agency):
- 1-10 officers: Chief Franco Fuda, Bonneau Police Department, 23 DUI arrests
- 11-25 officers: Senior Patrol Officer Riley Null, Irmo Police Department, 66 DUI arrests
- 26-50 officers: Senior Master Patrol Officer Josh Scott, Conway Police Department, 80 DUI arrests
- 51-100 officers: Public Safety Officer Jason T. Pearce, North Augusta Department of Public Safety, 73 DUI arrests
- 101 or more officers: Patrolman First Class Jonathan W. Lawrence, North Charleston Police Department, 144 DUI arrests
Rookie of the Year:
- Patrolman Wesley P. Keller, Greer Police Department, 16 DUI arrests
Highway Patrol Trooper of the Year:
- Lance Corporal Doug A. Rieser, Troop 3 (Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens and Spartanburg counties), 161 DUI arrests
Highway Patrol Troop of the Year:
- Troop 5 (Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marlboro, Marion and Williamsburg counties), 4,308 DUI arrests
State Transport Police District of the Year:
- State Transport Police, District 3 (Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens and Spartanburg counties), 22 DUI arrests
South Carolina Law Enforcement Network Award:
- 4th Circuit Law Enforcement Network (Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, and Marlboro counties)
Agency of the Year (five categories based on size of agency):
- 1-10 officers: Bonneau Police Department, 33 DUI arrests
- 11-25 officers: Surfside Beach Police Department, 131 DUI arrests
- 26-50 officers: Clemson University Police Department, 66 DUI arrests
- 51-100 officers: Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, 69 DUI arrests
- 101 or more officers: Mount Pleasant Police Department, 411 DUI arrests
Several agencies qualified to draw for one of 10 digital in-car video systems or four fully equipped police vehicles to use in DUI enforcement efforts. Those drawings took place live at the ceremony. The winners are:

- Bamberg Police Department
- Columbia Police Department
