The governor will be in the Upstate on Tuesday for an announcement from Michelin.

If Nikki Haley was hoping to make waves with her new book, she appears to have succeeded. Although the contents of her memoir, , the tour that she went on to promote it appears to have done the trick.
While , a comment which set off a storm of criticism. before heading to the Upstate tomorrow for what has been called a “major economic announcement” by Michelin at 10 a.m.
Criticism of the book tour appeared to be dying down, but with the release of last week’s schedule from her office, it may get a second wind. Heading off the suggestion that South Carolina may not have been her top priority last week, Haley’s spokesperson Rob Godfrey said: "Governor Haley is in constant contact with her staff, and like most people and businesses, the governor - who is on the job 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - is capable of carrying out the duties of her job when she happens to be traveling out-of-state."
Godfrey told Patch that as one of the state’s nine constitutional officers, Haley does not accrue vacation time and is expected to perform her duties at all times.

But Amanda Loveday, the executive director of the South Carolina Democratic Party thought otherwise. “Unfortunately it was more of the same from Gov. Haley,” Loveday said. “She seems to care more about her personal success than the people of South Carolina. The fact that she left the people of South Carolina for an entire week to promote her own book just proves it.”
But Godfrey said Haley’s appearances actually helped the state, “For Governor Haley, last week was about being able to brag about the progress South Carolina has made on all fronts, encouraging real people to run for office and telling a great American story.”
