Cookin' Good: Hejaz Shrine BBQ Cookoff Winners
Second annual event held beside golf course.
The Hejaz Shrine announced the winners of its 2nd Annual BBQ Cookoff on Saturday afternoon. The announcement was the culmination of a two-day event that drew 17 of the best BBQ chefs in the state. Participants were entertained by the Eric Scott Band from Anderson.
In addition to the BBQ winners a raffle was held that awarded lucky ticketholders a Ruger and a deep fryer.
The overall competition was won by William Holladay of Greenwood Smoke. Holladay won $1,000 for his efforts and took four of the five categories to outdistance his competitors.

Finishers two through four were separated by just five one-hundreths of a point. They were:
Fatboy's Barbeque, owned by Rick and Ann Wynn of Greenville, was second. They took home $750.

In third was Blind Swine BBQ of Greenwood, operated by Mike and Alan Sanders (father and son), David Bond and Jamey Crawford. They won $500.
And in fourth was Ronnie Bradberry of HAWG KOOKIN. He won $250.
Organizer and Shriner Matt Tapp, pronounced the event a success and is hoping to make it even larger next year.
