Disabilities Board Blasted By Officials, Parents

Criticism levied from all sides.

Separate reports from WSPA and WYFF indicate that the twelve-person group which leads the Greenville County Disabilities and Special Needs Board is under crticism from several sources.

The board recently terminated the executive director, a move which prompted a letter from Beverly Buschemi, the director of the South Carolina Disabilities and Special Needs Board, stating her concerns about the failure of the board to notify her of their decision to terminate the executive director. The bulk of the board's funding comes from state resources. Buschemi alleged that the termination occurred without a proper hearing.

The county board was called before the Greenville County Council earlier this week for an explanation on what led to the executive director's termination. But only one member of the board. According to this document, the County Council recommends candidates for the board to the governor, who ultimately appoints them.
