Duke Energy Customers Had Outage, Quickly Restored

Power was lost for approximately 20 minutes.

A fast-moving but powerful electrical storm moved through Mauldin and Simpsonville last night, causing a power outage for approximately 9,500 customers of Duke Energy.

According to Jason Walls, a spokesperson for Duke Energy, the outage occurred at approximately 11:55 and was due to an equipment failure at the Greenbrier Substation in the Mauldin-Simpsonville area. Customers were without power for about 20 minutes, Walls said.

"We were able to get out there pretty quickly and get the equipment re-set," he said.
