Golden Strip Society for Performing Arts Seeks Vocalists and Musicians

The Golden Strip Society for Performing Arts is looking for volunteers for its first community choir and orchestra to perform a Christmas concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at the Fountain Inn Activity Center.

The newly formed nonprofit organization is the brainchild of a group of individuals who believe the arts are an essential part of any thriving community.

Memberships are open to those 16 and up, will be accepted on Aug. 3^rd and 4^th, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mauldin Cultural Center. The cost of a membership is $30 to cover the cost of rehearsal materials. All proceeds from the ticketed holiday event will be donated to a local charity.

The first rehearsal will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 25^th with three additional rehearsals planned for the third Thursday in September, October and November. Two dress rehearsals are planned for the week of the performance on Dec. 6^th and 8^th.

Music performed at the Christmas concert will include such holiday classics as “Winter Wonderland,” “Let It Snow,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Silent Night,” and an excerpt from “Handel’s Messiah.”
