
The Golden Strip Society for Performing Arts is looking for volunteers for its first community choir and orchestra to perform a Christmas concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at the Fountain Inn Activity Center.
The newly formed nonprofit organization is the brainchild of a group of individuals who believe the arts are an essential part of any thriving community.
Memberships are open to those 16 and up, will be accepted on Aug. 3rd and 4th, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mauldin Cultural Center. The cost of a membership is $30 to cover the cost of rehearsal materials. All proceeds from the ticketed holiday event will be donated to a local charity.

The first rehearsal will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 25th with three additional rehearsals planned for the third Thursday in September, October and November. Two dress rehearsals are planned for the week of the performance on Dec. 6th and 8th.
Music performed at the Christmas concert will include such holiday classics as “Winter Wonderland,” “Let It Snow,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Silent Night,” and an excerpt from “Handel’s Messiah.”
