Four Mavs Sign Letters of Intent

Three headed to Erskine, one to Spartanburg Methodist.

Wednesday was a great day for Mauldin High School sports as four student-athletes confirmed their intentions to compete at the next level.

Three of those students, Alan Pearce, Morgan Alexander and Tori Whittenberg will continue their careers at Erskine College in Due West. Pearce will be playing tennis, while Alexander and Whittenberg will be playing basketball. 

The fourth athlete, Evan Rogers, will continue his soccer career at Spartanburg Methodist College.

The student-athletes were joined by family, friends, coaches and administrators for the ceremony in the high school gym.

Alexander and Whittenberg will add four more years to their already . Their coach Andrea Bell will be sad ot see them leave. "They are great students and great athletes," Bell said. "They weren't afraid to take on leadership roles and it was just a joy to watch them grow."

Bell said she expects both players to have an immediate impact at Erskine and thinks Alexander has the ability to add perimeter shooting to her game. "If she does that she'll be unstoppable." Bell said.
