GCSO Marks Take 25 Day at Frankie's Fun Park

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office will mark Take 25 day today from 4-8 p.m. at on 45 Park Woodruff Drive.

Crime Prvention Deputies will be at the park distrubting free child ID kits to parents. The public is invited.

In addition to the event at Frankie's Fun Park, the sheriffs had events at Blue Ridge Middle School, Northwest Middle School, Northwood Middle School, Blue Ridge High School, Wade Hampton High School, and Woodmont High School.  

Take 25 is a campaign by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that began in 2007. It rose out of National Missing Children's Day, which was declared by President Reagan in 1983. 

May 25 is also the day when 6-year-old Etan Patz disappeared from a New York street corner on his way to school in 1979.

Etan became the poster-child for the missing children's movement that led to a nationwide commitment to help locate and recover missing children.
