Lane Change On I-385 Northbound Tonight

Drivers should note changes and adjust schedule accordingly.

Tonight at 8:00 p.m. through tomorrow at 6:00 a.m., a lane change will take place between mile markers 30 - 35 on I-385 northbound. The change will remain in place until the fall and will be made to complete concrete improvements. In the event of inclement weather work will continue on the next weather-permitting night. As a result of the lane change:

• Crews will close a portion of the existing northbound alignment, and shift traffic onto the southbound median side of I-385.

• There will still be two lanes for the southbound and northbound traffic on the new southbound concrete pavement with temporary median barrier wall dividing the live traffic.

• The construction areas will continue to be marked with construction traffic cones and signs.

• A portion of the existing northbound mainline alignment will be retained to allow access to SC 417, Bridges Road and Butler Road off ramps.

• Crews will post signage as necessary at the time of the switch.

• SC 417, Bridges Road and Butler Road on ramps will exit onto a northbound C/D lane which will tie back the northbound mainline traffic just north of Smith Hines.

• Woodruff Road and Old Stage Road will enter and exit SB I-385 as they do now.

Drivers traveling through the construction zone are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area. The public is also asked to obey traffic control signs, reductions in speed limit and message board information, and to note that all road work is dependent on the weather.
