Let's Settle This: What Is This Road Called?

Last week, a certain Patch editor (me) was asked for directions to City Hall via phone. The person inquiring was coming from downtown Greenville. What follows is an approximation of the conversation (edited for time and a word or two not suitable for a family publication):

Person in Need of Directions (PINOD): How do I get to City Hall in Mauldin?

Patch Editor (PE): OK, so you come into town on Highway 276 until you get to the light at the main intersection where there is a and a . You'll see on the left and on the right. 

PINOD: There's a Dunkin' Donuts in Mauldin? Where?

PE: Yeah, . It's at 276 and Butler.

PINOD: Huh?

Person Standing Beside Patch Editor (PSBPE): 276? You aren't from these parts are you?

PE: Huh?

PINOD: Who are you talking to?

PE: Oh...nevermind. Anyway, you come to 276 and Butler and you make a left.

PINOD: Where is 276?

PE (to PSBPE): If I give you the phone can you tell them how to get to City Hall?

PSBPE: Surely.

PSBPE (on phone now, speaking to PINOD): OK, so you come down Main Street until you get the light with the Walgreens and Family Dollar and ...

PINOD: Main Street? Since when does Mauldin have a Main Street?

PSNBE: Since forever. You come out of Greenville and go past the Millennium Park and ...

PINOD: Oh, on Laurens Road?

PSBPE: What? (handing phone back to Patch Editor)

PE: See?
