5:20 p.m. — Were there enough machines?
Greenville County Elections Director Conway Belangia said there are 1,033 voting machines operating in all of Greenville County, but said there were multiple machines that were not sent out because they were under repair. None of the machines used in the county are castoffs from other states, he said.

Belangia also confirmed the state allotted 125 Electronic Voter Registration List (EVRL) computers to be used by Greenville County, this was enough to cover all but 33 precincts. The computers, used by many of the poll workers manning the qualifying tables at polling places, give immediate turnout feedback and information about voters on the respective precincts' rolls.

3:08 p.m. — Greenville County elections
Election Director Conway Belangia, responding to some complaints about long lines and broken machines, said across the county only six machines have been shut down, and that techs are on the way there to determine the best way to get the votes already cast off of them so they may be counted.

Belangia said all of the county's machines were being used Tuesday, and added that the allotment of machines to polling places were determined strictly by the number of registered voters in each precinct.

"We put all of our machines we had out there," Belangia said. "When people are in line, they always think that you don't have enough machines. We'll really know at the end of the day."

1:45 p.m. — Voter turnout heavy across Greenville County

12:31 p.m. — Minor problems in Greenville County
Greenville County Election Director Conway Belangia confirms heavy turnout comparable to that of 2008 in many precincts in the county.

Belangia said only some minor issues have been reported at the polling places.

"We just had our standard minor situations where we have a screen shut down. We've handled most of those, but some of those we had to close down with no votes on them. Nothing major."

Belangia said at county square, where voters who waited until the last minute to report a change of address, saw a 3.5 hour wait as of midday Tuesday.

Belangia said similar turnout was reported in the morning of the historic 2008 election, but that afternoon turnout slowed down that year.

"We don't know what will happen this afternoon," Belangia said.
