Mauldin Man Charged in Hotel Robberies

Three occurred in Greenville area between April 29 and May 3.

The US Marshalls Task Force in Charlotte arrested a Mauldin man this morning in connection with three hotel robberies that occurred last week.

44 year-old Phillip Eugene Honeycutt of Mauldin was identified as the perpetrator after witnesses identified him through photo line-ups.

Honeycutt was taken into custody while staying at a hotel in the Charlotte area and is being held until extradition to South Carolina.

The first incident occurred on April 29th around 12:40 p.m. at the La Quinta Inn, located at 31 Old Country Rd. in Greenville. The suspect came to the front desk and demanded money from the register, but then fled when advised he was under video surveillance.

Later that same evening, a man entered the Fairfield Inn on 48 Fisherman Ln in Greenville at approximately 8:30 p.m. and asked to rent a room. While in conversation with the cashier the suspect demanded money and then fled on foot when it was handed to him.

The third incident occurred on May 3rd around 7:55 p.m at the Econo Lodge on 20 Interstate Ct. in Greenville.

The suspect entered the hotel and demanded money from the register, but then fled on foot when the hotel clerk went to a back office and called the Sheriff's Office.

No injuries occurred at any of the incidents.

Honeycutt has not been charged in the incident at the La Quinta Inn.
