Mauldin PD To Monitor Main Intersection Starting Today

Starting today the Mauldin Police will begin monitoring Mauldin's main intersection for traffic violations.

According to Chief Bryan Turner, the intersection of Butler Road and Laurens Road was most often cited by the community as having traffic problems.  

With the arrival of and with the possibility of new businesses coming to the area in the near future, traffic will probably be increasing.

But the area has always been a trouble spot, Turner said, "We are just trying to take some pro-active measures to limit some potential issues."

As far as figures, in 2010 there were 22 accidents at the intersection and last year there were 17.
