Mauldin Police Catch Florida Fugitive

Woman found hiding out in local hotel room.

An assault complaint resulted in the capture of a woman wanted by Florida authorities last week after Mauldin Police found the woman hiding in a local hotel room, a police incident report said.

Alexis Jamie Adcox, 28, of Lyman, was caught after a Mauldin man appeared at police headquarters July 12 to complain of an assault by a woman in his hotel room at the Days Inn on West Butler Road, the report said.

The 46-year-old man told police Adcox was hiding out in his room, and alleged that when he tried to make her leave she struck him repeatedly in the face. The man, who said he was fearful for his safety, then went to police to turn the woman in, the report said.

When Mauldin Police arrived at the hotel with the man and made entry into the man's room, they found Adcox hiding underneath a pile of covers next to the bed, the report said

The man declined to press assault charges against Adcox, but Mauldin Police arrested her and took her into custody after confirming she was wanted by the Hillsborough County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office.

The report didn't state the specific charges, but a check of Hillsborough County criminal records by Patch indicated that Adcox was wanted on charges including battery on a law enforcement officer this past February.
