Mauldin Police Investigate Possible Bomb
Authorities deactivate suspected "bottle bomb" in local residential neighborhood, and are told of others that have detonated in recent weeks.

Mauldin Police said a suspected "bottle bomb" was found recently in a residential neighborhood in the city and deactivated by an agent from the FBI bomb squad.
The contraption — a plastic bottle with a blue liquid and tin foils inside it — was discovered and reported by the neighborhood's Home Owners Association Feb. 21. It was located on a culvert at the corner of Fawn Ridge Way and Poplar Springs Drive in Mauldin, according to an incident report.
After cordoning off the area, FBI agent Gary Ward donned protective gear and deactivated the device, which was taken into custody as evidence, the report said.
More ominous, the HOA told police that there had been "several reports of similar bottle bombs detonating inside the neighborhood in the past few weeks," the report stated.
The report didn't indicate that any injuries or property damage had occurred because of the alleged detonations.
Police said they have no suspects at this time, but continue to investigate the incident.
