's Navy JROTC academic team traveled to Lincoln, N.C., to compete in Brain Brawl. The academic competition featured 20 schools from North and South Carolina. Each team was comprised of three students. Shea Tanner finished first overall in the individual (Brainiac) category competing against the top 10 competitors in attendance. Both of Mauldin High's teams made it to the semi-final round before being eliminated by the narrowest of margins. Team 1 members are Shea Tanner, Joseph Berry, and Morgan Brizendine. Team 2 members are Cyn­thia Wolfe, Colton McCall, and John Schmidt.
