Police: Man Wanted on Burglary, CDV Charges

Suspect allegedly intimidated his ex after breaking into her home while she was asleep.

Mauldin Police were looking for a Greenville man after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's home on Bellport Drive while she was asleep and later got into a heated confrontation with her making her fear for her safety, a police report said.

Police have issued warrants for criminal domestic violence and burglary on Christopher Renard Rush, 29, after the alleged incident, which occurred July 30, the report said.

The 27-year-old female victim alleged Rush entered her home while she was asleep then awakened her and confronted her over "who she is sleeping with," the report stated.

Rush then allegedly grabbed the victim's cell phone and began trying to review her call history, the report said. The victim, who said she feared for her safety, grabbed the phone back and tried to lock herself away in a bathroom to call police, but not before the suspect began wrestling with her and took her phone, the report said.

Still in fear for her safety, the victim said she then fled the house to seek shelter at a neighbor's house.

While at the neighbor's house, the alleged victim said she saw the suspect leave her house and drive away in a silver Dodge Charger with tinted windows, the report said. She later returned to her house to find her cell phone shattered after being thrown on the floor.

The victim stated she had lived with the suspect previously for 11 years and that the couple have children in common, but that the home is solely hers and that her ex had surrendered his house key after he moved out, the report said. There were no signs of forced entry, leading the suspect and police to believe he might have made a duplicate key without her knowledge, the report said.
