Police: Speeder Charged With Multiple Violations
Traffic stop by Mauldin Police ends in multiple charges for Simpsonville woman, including marijuana possession.

A Simpsonville woman faces several charges after what started out as a routine stop for speeding by Mauldin Police last week, an incident report said.
Jessica Lynn Riley, 29, was pulled over by police June 25 on US Highway 276 near downtown after being clocked by radar at 71 mph, the report said.
Things would only go downhill from there.
Police said they immediately smelled marijuana when they approached the vehicle of the woman, who said she was speeding in order to make a class at Greenville Tech, the report said.
An officer said he immediately saw a marijuana "blunt" in the woman's ashtray in plain sight, the report said. When asked if she had anything else in the car, the woman handed police two cold, unopened Budweiser Lime-A-Rita Strawberry cans in a bag. When asked if she had an open container, the woman said she had a cup, which was filled with the alcoholic beverage, the report said.
When asked for her drivers license, the woman said she didn't have it and divulged it had been suspended for cancellation of insurance, the report said.
The woman allegedly told police there was no more marijuana in her vehicle, but once another officer arrived on scene and a search was conducted, police said they found a baggie of marijuana in the center console, along with two marijuana roaches in the ashtray, and more blunt wraps, the report said.
The woman was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of marijuana, drug equipment violations, driving under suspension, and an open container violation, in addition to the original charge of speeding, the report said.
