Police: Thieves Target Mauldin Car Dealership

Unidentified suspects take the wheels, leave the vehicle behind.

Mauldin Police are investigating a theft that happened last week at a Mauldin car dealership.

In this case, the thieves weren't interested in cars so much as they were the wheels, a police incident report said. In this case, specifically the wheels and tires of a 2006 Nissan Frontier SUV at AutoQ Car and Truck Sales at 107 Evening Way, the report said.

The dealer told police that when he went to open his business last Wednesday he found the vehicle missing all four wheels and tires, though the thieves did leave behind the lug nuts and the jack, the report said.

Police said they were trying to pull latent prints from the left-behind items, since there was no video surveillance of the incident and a neighbor had told the dealer he didn't see anything.

The wheels had an estimated value of $2,500, the report said.
