
Mauldin High graduate and Clemson student Alyssa Kulik begins her journey toward the 2012 Olympics this afternoon in Eugene, Ore.
Kulik competes in the 3,000 meters Women's Steeplechase at 4:50 local time. She will be among 24 women competing for a spot in the finals in two qualifying heats. The top five in the two heats plus the four best times will earn spots in the finals.

In Omaha, Neb. tonight the South Carolina baseball team will try to stave off elimination and force a deciding Game Three with Arizona at the College World Series.
The Gamecocks dropped a 5-1 decision on Sunday to Arizona. USC fell behind 2-0 in the first inning and never seriously threatened the Wildcats, mustering only six hits against ace Konner Wade, who threw a complete game.

Starting pitchers have not yet officially been named, but USC skipper Ray Tanner said that if ace lefty (and Greer native) Michael Roth is ready, he'll take the hill. Tonight's game begins at 8 p.m. and airs on ESPN.
