In addition to his record and his conservatism, Groover cited Swann's ability to remain free of influence, which is not a minor consideration when sending a representative without electoral experience to Columbia, as is the case with Swann. Turner has not held public office either.
"Joe knows how to run a large operation and he is not a good old boy," Groover said. "He’ll fight for the upstate."
"I’m all in for Joe Swann," Groover concluded.
Groover said he plans on working for Swann until the run-off while working at his law practice on Church Street in Greenville.
Lee said he met with both Swann and Turner in the past day and opted to support Swann.
"I prayed and thought about it very carefully," Lee said. "And I'm supporting Joe."
"Joe is the one best prepared to serve," Lee said. "I believe he has the best life experience and clearest vision of how thinks South Carolina can be better."
