TruBallers Returns to Mauldin This Weekend

B-ball tournament comes back bigger and better than last year.

They say if you have a good thing you should stick with it. That's certainly the philosophy being adopted by the organizers of the TruBallers 5on5.

Oliver Hill, one of the organizers, said coming back to Mauldin was an easy decision. "Everyone noticed how well everything went and once the word got out that we were coming back, we had a lot of interest," he said.

to see 15 teams compete for $5,000 in cash and get and tournament sponsors Trevor Booker and Josh Howard.

Booker, a Clemson grad and Union native, will be back along with Howard. This year, they will be joined Jordan Hill of the Los Angeles Lakers and DeSagana Diop of the Charlotte Bobcats.

The double elimination tournament will feature 24 teams coming from ten states--including Oklahoma and Texas. 1-8 Live from West Palm Beach, Fla. will be back to defend its title.

There will be an opening ceremony on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Sports Center and then the games will tip-off at 7 at the and the .*

The championship game will be on Sunday evening at the Sports Center.

The tournament, with over 200 players in town for the weekend, should also provide a boost for Mauldin businesses. Tickets for the tournament are $2 and there will be a photograph and autograph session on Saturday.

NOTE - Opening ceremonies were initially planned for Springfield Park but have been moved to the Sports Center.
