Verizon to Host Small Businesses Oct. 17

Verizon Wireless will hold a small business workshop at 469 Congaree Road on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Area businesses will learn about the latest in machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies that improve operational efficiencies, create new revenue streams, simplify supply chains and provide for quicker responses to consumer needs.

Verizon enterprise solution experts will be on hand along with the following vendors to demonstrate wireless technology solutions:

·      Fleet management: Delphi[i] and GPS Heroes[ii]

·      Mobile payment and smart accessories: Square[iii] and Intuit[iv]

·      Internal Solutions: Cradlepoint[v]

·      Samsung[vi], Motorola[vii] and BlackBerry[viii] will be present to discuss the latest in connected devices, smartphones and tablets for small business.

According to Cisco’s Visual Networking Index[ix], there were two billion M2M connections in 2012, and that number is expected to triple by 2017. Machine-to-machine technology describes a broad set of applications that constantly relay information over a cellular network. Applications include logistical tracking, asset monitoring, fleet management and remote security across industries as diverse as healthcare or government to oil and gas.
