Another Carnival Passenger Airlifted

Second passenger in a week transported after encountering medical trouble.

A second person sailing aboard Charleston-based Carnival Fantasy in less than a week has been medically evacuated by the U.S. Coast Guard after the individual suffered a stroke.

This latest incident on Sunday occurred 20 miles east of Miami, according to a Coast Guard news release. The Fantasy was one day into a 5-day Bahamas cruise at the time.

The crew of the MH-65 Dolphin helicopter encountered heavy rain squalls and 36-knot winds during the rescue mission. The helicopter crew transferred the passenger to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami for further medical care.
