Travel + Leisure has for some time given Charleston high marks. The city holds high rankings on the magazine's lists for antiques, friendliness, civic pride and architecture, among other honors.

Charleston in 2011 was voted "Top City in the United States" in Condé Nast's Traveler Readers' Choice Awards. On the list for years, 2011 was the first year Charleston edged out San Francisco for the top spot. The 2012 rankings are released for that list in October.
