Closure Cancelled for Hungryneck Work

All Lanes of US 17 North and Southbound at Interstate 526 and Hungryneck Blvd. will be open tonight.

Construction crews had closed the Hwy. 17 intersection for several nights in recent weeks as a team constructs an overpass from I-526 to Hungryneck Boulevard.

The crew moved more quickly than expected installing the seven girders. Because of good weather and patient drivers, the town said, no more closures will be necessary for installing the girders.

That overpass, along with widening along the entire Hwy. 17, and another overpass at Hwy. 17 and Bowman Road, are intended to speed up traffic along the busy corridor.
