Fire Injures Elderly Mt. Pleasant Couple
Two taken for treatment following smoky fire on Cottingham Drive in Mount Pleasant.

An elderly Mount Pleasant couple has been taken for medical treatment following a smoky early Sunday morning fire on Cottingham Drive, according to reports.
The man and woman, whose names have not been provided by authorities, were taken to MUSC for smoke inhalation, according to WCBD-TV.
Firefighters had to help the woman, who was in a wheelchair, evacuate the home. The dwelling was already well consumed when firefighters arrived on scene, according to ABCNews4.

While the home is still standing, firefighters report that the structure has extensive smoke damage throughout. The blaze required help from Mount Pleasant firefighters and those from Sullivan's Island, as well, News2 reports.
