Folly Beach leaders voted Tuesday evening to ban alcohol from its beach for 60 days as it examines the future of alcohol on the sand.
Tuesday's decision comes after a July 4 brawl that injured police officers, the latest in a string of incidents authorities said were fueled by alcohol.
The 60-day ban is temporary, but it will extend through the rest of the 2012 busy beach season. Town council plans to revisit the issue in the fall, according to ABC News 4.

Residents spoke out strongly for a ban. They said drunk beach goers make a mess of the town during beach season, urinating on yards, littering and driving drunk, according to WCBD-TV.
Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms ban alcohol consumption on the beach. So does Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head. Tybee Island outside Savannah allows public consumption of alcohol, so long as it's not in a glass container.
