It's on: Basketball on the Yorktown
Patriots Point signs agreement to hold Carrier Classic Nov. 9.
Patriots Point has inked a deal to bring a NCAA college basketball tournament to the flight deck of the USS Yorktown.
The Nov. 9 double-header will pitt the women’s teams of Ohio State University and the University of Notre Dame, and the men’s teams of Marquette University and Ohio State University, according to Ashley Smith, Patriots Point spokeswoman.
Atlanta-based Morale Entertainment Foundation put on the first Carrier Classic in 2011 aboard the USS Carl Vinson in San Diego. President Barack Obama attended that North Carolina v. Michigan State game.

"The 2012 Carrier Classic will focus attention on America’s veterans and members of the armed services, while raising money for organizations that support them," Smith said.
The 2012 beneficiaries are the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Museum, and the Wounded Warrior Project. The 2011 Carrier Classic contributed almost half a million dollars to its beneficiaries, Smith said.
