Officer Injured in Morning Crash
Mount Pleasant officer struck tree while responding to call in Park West.

A Mount Pleasant police officer was injured in an early morning crash near Park West, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. when Officer Charles Long was responding to a call in northern Mount Pleasant. He reportedly struck a tree and was injured.
The officer was reportedly responding to a call with his cruiser's lights and sirens activated when he lost control. The car went off the left side of the road. It appears Long overcorrected, with the car heading off the right side of the road, striking a tree.

Long was reportedly taken to East Cooper Regional Medical Center with injuries, but his medical condition was not known early Thursday morning. He was reportedly wearing his seatbelt.
