Fairy House Day set for Jan. 24 (postandcourier.com) — Families in Mount Pleasant can look forward to Fairy House Day returning to Palmetto Islands County Park on January 24, with two sessions and advance registration required. Kids can build tiny nature-based fairy homes, enjoy story time, crafts, bubbles, music, and photos with a “real” fairy. Admission is $7 per person and includes park entry, with food trucks, face painting, and accessibility accommodations available.
   

2. Hardwood Heroes Boys Basketball Season Preview (mountpleasantmagazine.com) — Mount Pleasant hoops fans get a full preview of boys basketball at Wando, Lucy Beckham, Oceanside Collegiate, Bishop England, and Philip Simmons, including key returning players and tough early schedules. Coaches say they’re rebuilding cultures as much as win–loss records, with Oceanside’s coach even calling his squad the best team in Mount Pleasant thanks to its work ethic and family atmosphere.
   

3. Lowcountry doctor performs first ankle implant surgery for bladder control (live5news.com) — Residents in Mount Pleasant now have access to a newly approved ankle implant that helps control bladder issues, performed locally at East Cooper Medical Center. Dr. Cary Fishburne is the first in the region to use this minimally invasive device, which can last up to 15 years and requires very little maintenance, offering new hope for people struggling with incontinence.
   

4. Cops drop hammer on impaired holiday driving (postandcourier.com) — Mount Pleasant’s deputy police chief joined Charleston-area law enforcement leaders to launch a tough holiday crackdown on impaired driving, warning residents that officers will be out in force. The Sober or Slammer campaign urges locals to plan safe rides, avoid driving drunk, drugged, distracted, or drowsy, and reminds hosts to offer alcohol-free options so families can stay together and off the tragedy lists.
