Report: MMA Fighter Took Pain Meds

The mixed martial arts fighter who died shortly after a cage fight in Mount Pleasant Saturday took pain medication at some point before he went into "full code" backstage at the Omar Shrine Temple, according to police reports released today.
Tyrone "Teestea" Mims, 30, told a ringside doctor that he simply felt tired after his fight, according to the Mount Pleasant police report. But when event organizers called the doctor a few moments later, Mims was talking incoherently and had a weak pulse, the report states.
Shortly after the doctor reached Mims back stage, he went into "full code," the doctor told police. EMS workers performed CPR on the fighter before transporting him to MUSC where he was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m., the report states.
