Reports: Man Charged in Police Assault
From this week's reports: Taser fired accidentally; Creepy customer; Peeping Tom.

A Mount Pleasant man with dozens of arrests that date back nearly a decade was sent back to jail recently for assaulting two Mount Pleasant officers.
The incident happened July 27 on Ben Sawyer Blvd., when officers were attempting to place Leroy Fitts Jr., 66, into custody for public drunkenness.
Fitts fought the officers from the start, according to the police report. When one officer arrived on the scene, the suspect was already in a "fighting stance" as other officers approached the man.

Officers easily got the 5-foot-5-inch, 120-pound man into handcuffs, but then he kicked an officer. That's when police "assisted him to the ground," which apparently caused some abrasions and scratches to the man's face.
Fitts was booked into the Charleston County jail on resisting arrest, assault on an officer and public drunkenness, according to the police report.

Woman Reports Peeping Tom
A newcomer in a Johnnie Dodds Boulevard apartment complex got a fright recently when she spotted her new neighbor pressed up against her window peering inside, according to a police report.
The woman called her boyfriend to her apartment and then contacted police. In the meantime, she saw the man again entering the apartment across the hall from her, the report states.
Police tried repeatedly to get the man out of his apartment, but he would not come to the door. The woman said she wants to press charges, but according to court records, it doesn't appear police had charged the man.
Officer Accidentally Deploys Taser
A Mount Pleasant police officer thought his Taser was out of commission, so he stored it underneath his seat for the duration of his shift.
He was surprised -- and his cruiser's floorboard was shocked -- when he pulled the gun from underneath the seat and it fired, hitting the floor of his police car.
The incident was reported to the officer's supervisor and the Taser was sent for repair.
Creepy Customer Troubles Bank Employee
A Mount Pleasant bank employee said she's used to dealing with all sorts of customers from all walks of life, but one man really gave her the creeps recently.
The man, who was setting up a new account, vacillated between saying he thought the woman was "beautiful inside and out" to saying that he hated her bank and thought she was a jerk.
On top of his weird statements, the man also said he had just gotten out of jail and he also had bruised and bloodied hands and was generally disheveled in his appearance.
She told officers she just wanted them to take down the man's information in case he ever returned.
These items were selected from several hundred Mount Pleasant Police Reports filed over the last few weeks. All charges are pending and accused parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
