Police Save Man from Bridge Jump
A concerned citizen and police pulled a man from the guardrail of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, apparently saving him from a suicide attempt.
A resident walking on the bridge’s sidewalk saw the man climb over the railing on the bridge, but managed to pull him to the ground. When police arrived, they handcuffed the man and placed him in emergency protective custody, according to an incident report. The incident happened April 21.

The 61-year-old Charleston man told police he wanted to end his life because he believed he had cancer, according to a police report. The man also said he had been consuming a large amount of alcohol and that he sometimes “heard voices” when he drank.
There have been two suicides on the Ravenel Bridge since December.

Four Cario Students Cited in Drugs, Weapons Case
Police charged three Cario Middle School students with simple possession of marijuana after 2.49 grams of pot was found at the school.
As many as seven students may have been involved in the apparent drug deal, according to a police incident report. Just three were charged, and a fourth faces weapons charges after police discovered brass knuckles in the youngster’s pocket.
The case came to light after students saw one girl with “green plant material” in a calculator case while she was in the bathroom, the report states.
The girl later showed a Mount Pleasant police officer the calculator case that contained the marijuana. She had been hiding that case inside a hollowed-out paperback book.
GenPhar Building Vandalized
The building at the center of a federal criminal probe was apparently vandalized recently, according to a police incident report.
Police discovered the apparent break-in while on regular patrols. The officer saw a handful of metal objects and copper tubing outside the building and then found the front door unlocked.

The GenPhar building on South Morgans Point Road was entered through a balcony, police wrote, but the front door also had its locks drilled out, the report states.
