
The National Weather Service Charleston has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of the Lowcountry.
The weather will take a turn for the worst around 5 p.m. today when storm clouds will blanket the area. By sundown, the Lowcountry will see scattered thunderstorms and high winds, according to forecasts.
The storms come in advance of a cold front. There will be wind gusts up to 60 mph and there is a potential for golf-ball-sized hail, according to the Weather Service.

Expect the worst around 10 p.m. on land and midnight over water, the Weather Service predicts.
The good news is that Saturday appears to have great conditions with an 82-degree forecast high and only a 10 percent chance of rain, according to the Weather Channel.
