Tough Decision Ahead for Clamagore

With multi-million repair bill, Patriots Point has plans to part with Clamagore.

Facing the prospect of a $5 to $6 million repair bill, Patriots Point said this week it may part with the former Navy Submarine Clamagore.

The 67-year-old vessel is badly damaged due to saltwater erosion, and Patriots Point doesn't have the money to repair the sub, according to the Post and Courier.

Officials at the Mount Pleasant attraction say they are doubtful the state legislature would appropriate money for repairs, and with other projects needing attention, the vessel will likely leave the Cooper River, the newspaper reports.
