Officers make huge weapons haul in early morning domestic assault investigation.

Mount Pleasant police made major a huge weapons haul after responding to an early morning report of domestic assault.

James M. Dolan, 54, faces criminal domestic violence charges for an alleged assault and threats on his wife, according to a police incident report.

The woman alleges that Dolan, who may have been suffering psychiatric issues, attacked her and attempted to bind her hands with rope and tape her mouth closed, according to the report.

The woman left their Charleston National home around 1 a.m. and went to the police department to make the report.

Police called out the SWAT team to Dolan's residence to get the man out of the home. He surrendered without incident, and officers recovered a huge cache of weapons.

Here's an inventory of the weapons recovered: Mossberg 12ga, Mohawk 48 12g, Remington 700 .338, Remington 760 .270, Romanian SKS, Archangel .556, Savage 111 30.06, Ithaca M49, Mossberg 500A 12g, Remington 1100 12g, Beretta 422, Hi Point CF380, Taurus PT92AR, Taurus PT945, Sig Sauer P250, Smith and Wesson Mod 194, Stoegar Candor 12g, Intratec 9mm, Glenfield Mod25, DPMS A15.

Police wrote in their report that the weapons were taken for "safe keeping," since the wife made no allegation that Dolan threatened here with a firearm.
