Voters Head to the Polls

Republicans vote today on county auditor, state house.

Mount Pleasant Repubicans today will vote in a three-person race for Charleston County Auditor and in a two-man contest that will decide who holds South Carolina House District seat 10.

Rep. Chip Limehouse, R-Charleston, is defending his seat against political newcomer Peter vonLehe Ruegner.

Incumbent Auditor Peggy Moseley faces opposition from long-time foe David Engleman and former Mount Pleasant Councilman Paul Gawrych.

The winner of today's District 10 primary faces no Democratic challenger in November. Whoever wins the auditor's race will face Peter Tecklenburg in November. He faced no opposition in the Democrat's race.

This race has been marred by confusion statewide over who should be allowed on the ballot. Numerous candidates were tossed, even some this week, for not filing the proper financial disclosures at the appropriate time.

The ballots in these Mount Pleasant races, unlike others, do not include candidates who ineligible to run.
