Wind Damages Port Cranes

Wind speeds topped 40 MPH Saturday night.

A strong thunderstorm Saturday evening apparently damaged two cranes at the Wando Terminal at the Port of Charleston, according to media reports.

Public relations spokesperson for the Ports Authority, Allison Skipper, tells WCBD-TV that around 7 p.m., the wind caused one crane to roll into another. They will not know the full extent of the damage until next week.

Saturday evening storms downed tree limbs and resulted in intermittent power outages across Mount Pleasant.
