Woman Reports Driveway Robbery

Police Reports: Woman reports armed robbery on Simmons Street.

Mount Pleasant police are investigating an attempted robbery and attack that happened as a woman sat in her driveway on Simmons Street, according to reports.

It reportedly happened around 2 a.m. Aug. 27, according to a police incident report. The woman said she had been sitting in her driveway for roughly an hour when a man approached, pulled a gun and demanded her purse.

The woman said she refused to give the suspect any money. She wrestled with him in the driveway, even biting the man on his fingers as they fought.

She described the suspect as a black man, standing 5 feet 6 inches and weighing roughly 200 pounds, the report states.

The suspect eventually gave up when the victim was able to honk her horn and yell for help. He reportedly fled down King Street toward Greenwich Street, the report states.

The woman was not injured in the incident, though she did break a shoe, the report states. Officers noted footprints leading from the area of the alleged attack and there were handprints on the woman's vehicle that were consistent with her story.
